Council of Europe Secretary General Marija Pejčinović Burić makes an official visit to Serbia

In an earlier newsletter, we reported on the publication of democracy manuals for families in Serbia, written by Svetlana Lazic and Rolf Gollob, which are based on the living-democracy approach.

On 8 and 9 March 2022, the Secretary General of the Council of Europe, Marija Pejčinović Burić, paid an official visit to the Republic of Serbia:

During her stay, she also visited the Council of Europe office in Belgrade, where she met with the staff and had the opportunity to learn about the education programme being implemented in Serbia under the joint EU/CoE action entitled “Quality Education for All”. She was informed of the books for parents and seemed very happy to receive them as a gift. The books, as the Secretary General was informed, pioneered work with families based on the methods of the Reference Framework of Competences for a Democratic Culture, which of course makes us very happy: Growing up in a democratic family: a manual for parents with sections on ages 6 – 10 and 11 – 14, and Living in a democratic family: a manual for parents of adolescents age 15 to 19.
